What to Expect

After your chiropractor has determined if you are a candidate for StemWave therapy, they will map out the area of pain with you. An ultrasound gel is applied to the area being treated for better conductivity and to reduce friction on your skin so that the treatment is as comfortable and effective as possible.

The treatment applicator is placed on the area you’re hurting. During the process, your doctor and you will communicate the whole time so that you can work together to make sure each area of pain is addressed.

Average treatment time is 10-15 minutes, and most patients experience a significant reduction in pain and abnormal sensation and increase in range of motion and comfort.

A More Affordable Alternative

Am I a candidate for StemWave Therapy?

This therapy has few restrictions. We do not apply treatment over a pacemaker. If you’re pregnant, we avoid treating the stomach or hip areas. If you have had a cortisone shot, you must wait until 21 days afterward to participate in this therapy. Your doctor will review your health history and current condition in detail to make sure you are a candidate for StemWave.

Is there an age requirement?

StemWave can be done over any area that doesn’t still have an open growth plate. For that reason adolescents can only receive stemwave treatments over areas of mature bone. Treatment is typically reserved for only 16-18 years of age and above. There is no age limit on stemwave.

Is it safe?

StemWave is one of the safest soft tissue therapies you can do. However, there are certain conditions that can put you at risk for healing such as being on blood thinners, having a blood clotting disorder, taking oral steroids or having steroid injections within 30 days of healing, having a pacemaker, or being pregnant. We discuss all of these with each patient and make sure it is safe for each individual.
